Letter From The Editor
May is here! With that, this marks the 36th issue since we took over the magazine. It is hard to believe that we have been at this for three years already, but it has been one hell of a ride! We have met so many good people, been to so many cool events, and have gained so many cool customers. We truly value all of the friends that we have had the pleasure of working with, riding with, and partying with. We would like to thank each and every one of the readers and advertisers for helping make this magazine what it is today. We will strive to keep it on par and go into yet another year of publishing your Iowa biker magazine.
Also we can say the riding season is here, finally! It has been a long time coming, with a winter that would not quit, but we can get out and about now. Please be safe, watch out for that road debris, farm equipment, and the ever dangerous cages that are still not used to seeing us on the road. We would like to wish everyone a safe and fun riding season, have fun racking up the miles! If you don’t know where to go or what to do, check out the FREE event listing to see what is happening and where. This listing is on these pages so that everyone can see what is going on and to get to the events they want. If you have any events that are not on the list, or any bike nights that we do not have on the list, email them to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; we will get them added for the next issue. Ride safe, ride often, ride on.
To round off the end of April, on the 27th, there is Fender Cycle’s Open House in Des Moines, as well as the Sleeping Angels Run in Boone, both events worth checking out. Heck, you may even be able to make both of them! The first big things in May are: Vintage Torque Fest in Dubuque on May 3-4, Hawkeye HD’s Open house week May 1-7 with shin dig on May 4th, F&J Racing’s 18th Annual Blessing of the bikes in Marshalltown, and the Summer Kick Off Party at Papa Joe’s in Mo Valley . Ride along with me if you want to, as I will be hitting up all four of those events that weekend. May 18th in Marne, Baxter Cycle is hosting a spring open house and the Hog Wild Rodeo in Conesville is now back to the original date, so party it up in the sand May 16-18, on the way home you can hit the Pearl Street Social Club on Sunday May 19th for a bike show and party. Then Memorial Day weekend you can hit Main Street Bikes and Trikes Open House on May 25th, and then the Midway Tavern’s Fun Run/BBQ and Street Dance in Soldier May 25th and 26th. The first weekend in June brings the Carroll Cycle Center’s annual Rock N Ride on June 1st. Always a good time in Carroll!
May 18th is Armed Forces Day, so be sure to thank those that are serving, so that we can be free to do what we want to do! Thanks to all those that are or have served in the Military from all of us at Thunder Roads Magazine of Iowa.
Ride it like there is no tomorrow!
